Punching holes into neurons - input resistance of neurons under the in vivo conditions

Input resistance of a neuron determines its sensitivity to the incoming synaptic events which are in turn changing its membrane voltage. At the same time those events are changing the input resistance of the neuron. In this talk I will ask questions about the changes of input resistance in the neuron in the living brain, when a neuron is exposed to the barrage of presynaptic activity and show how we are trying to answer them by the combination of analytical calculations, simulations and experimental work.

Structure learning of the Arabidopsis Thaliana Circadian Clock Network

Circadian clocks regulate many other biological processes, like sleep, feeding times and photosynthesis. Di fferent approaches exist
to model the complex interactions between clock components.  It is of interest not only to model the behaviour of the clock, but also to identify its components. This includes analysis of biological data, such as, DNA and protein sequences, phylogenetic information between related species and post-transcriptional regulations.
Given the periodic nature of the circadian clock, a frequency and phase domain network modelling framework is a promising research path.
