Localization microscopy using quantum dots (PhD)

Fluorescence microscopy is an invaluable tool in modern cell biology. It is a non-invasive method used for visualising the interior of a living specimen with multicolour molecular labels (fluorophores) of high specificity. However, the resolution of classical optical microscopy is limited. (Resolution is defined as a minimal separation of two point sources such as they can be ‘resolved’ as a two objects.
