Evaluating Models of Drosophila Larvae Neural Circuits Against Biological Data (PhD)

Neural circuits for various drosophila larvae behaviours have been proposed based on little or no anatomical data.  New data has enabled the mapping of the larval connectome and neural lineage data.This project will integrate these new data sets into the virtual flybrain database and then build software that will enable researchers to compare proposed model circuits with this new data to test for viability.  As a test case the circuits describing peristaltic motion will be studied with the aim to identify the circuits involved in this Central Pattern Generator. The project involves collaborating with Janelia Farm in the US.
