Comparative computational modelling of endocytosis mechanisms at the pre-synaptic terminal (PhD)

This project will develop and use computational modelling techniques to discover the unique properties of Activity Dependent Bulk Endocytosis (ADBE) in comparison with alternate forms of endocytosis for synaptic vesicle recycling. Using these comparative computational models, the project will produce hypotheses for the reasons of conservation of ADBE.  These hypotheses will then be validated using in vitro models in collaboration with members of the Membrane Biology Group at the Centre for Integrative Physiology at Edinburgh University.
